| David Copperfield is my favourite. It was on Drama a couple of Sundays ago. Daniel Radcliffe was such a cute kid. Maggie Smith and Pauline Quirks performances had me in tears. I wanted to turn Zoe Wanamakers Jane Murdstone violently onto the streets myself, and have Mr Murdstone transported to the colonies. |

| Great Expectations is the better book, but Nicholas Nickleby is the one I actually prefer to read.
I fell out of love with the D-Copp because I simply cannot believe in 'David the novelist'. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'

| I'm basing my opinions solely on the David Lean screen adaptation.
On reflection, I can't recall ever reading a Dickens novel of any sort or stripe. _________________ Have you ever seen a Squonk's tears?

| I haven’t read them either. I do actually own a copy of A Christmas Carol and I had an illustrated Oliver Twist I liked leafing through, but I’ve never read a Dickens novel. I go on the television adaptions.
For Oliver, I don’t think the black and white David Lean adaption can be beaten. |

| No, I haven’t, I’ll look it up, I have great expectations that it’s probably on YouTube. Until I no longer had a video recorder I had the OT video which I’d had for years. It’s the best version, I’ve watched it many times. I particularly loved the bleak scene of Oliver’s mother battling through a storm while in labour. Very atmospheric. |

| Indeed all the references to cucumber sandwiches in that play are code, for marmalade sandwiches. _________________ ' "Haven't got houses." Where do they live then?'
