OK, every now and then we do something that is terrifically painful.

Worse than a paper cut or treading on a bit of Lego.

Worse even than stubbing a toe or banging a shin.

Much worse than mild electrocution or being stung by a wasp too.

However, not so bad that you have to go 'oscible.

These are the incidents that elicit either a bloodcurdling shriek of pain and alarm, or a dread silence of queasiness as you brayne tries grasp what's just happened.



Anyway, a did one of these types of thing the other day.

Crouching on the hall floor in my new flat to plug an internet cable back into its socket I forgot that immediately above me I'd left the wall-mounted cupboard for the electricity meter wide open.

So, once I'd plugged the cable back in I stood bolt upright...


I experienced a blinding flash of pain and light in my skullington and keeled over onto my knees gasping in agony.

Obviously I'd struck the top of my head on the underside of the open cupboard door with some force.

I've done this before, elsewhere in my life.

I now have a big bump on my noggin and few billion less braincells.

It still hurts three days later, although I think I survived without too much damage.


Ooh, I gave that cupboard door such a talking to and shut it firmly and everything.

Ooh I hate doing that.

I hope you've checked the symptoms of concussion. Sometimes it doesn't show till a few days later.

I don't think it was so bad and the pain I'm still feeling is just a localised tenderness () on the surface of the bonsular region rather than all headachy and woozy in the brainular areas.

I did feel like my left eye went a bit funny for a few minutes after though and my front teeth felt all on edge.

I've hit my stupid head lots of times, but never quite as badly as that.

So I opened my fridge door, apparently some poltroon had put a tall bottle in one of the door shelves that was too small and I was faced by a falling bottle of Asda's Best Moroccan 'style' sauce.


Ooh, that's glass and will shatter if it hits the floor, I know I'll use my foot to arrest it's fall and save the day!

Yes, and especially when you try to get an annoying bluebottle to go out of the window by standing on the radiator and waving you arms about and then you lose your balance and fall backwards and a bottle that happens to be stood on a coffee table accidentally goes up your *** and then you have to explain what happened to the people in A&E.

I've just accidentally banged my head on the side of my parents' shed while putting away a bucket in the rear of shed bucket storage area.
