Can't see it. After weeks of clear blue skies, the sky is currently filled with black thunder clouds.

Welcome to the British astronomy experience
Re: The Outer Space thread
Ooh I wonder if that led to an occultation of Saturn by the Moon.
I saw Venus emerging from occultation by the Moon once, it was really impressive.

It was a total fluke too, I had no idea it was going to happen.

Re: The Outer Space thread
More evidence of Planet X discovered.
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2018/oct/02/dwarf-planet-the-goblin-discovery-planet-nine-oort-cloudAn extremely distant dwarf planet, named The Goblin, has been discovered in observations that are redefining the outer reaches of the solar system.
Astronomers made the discovery while hunting for a hypothetical massive planet, known as Planet Nine, that is suspected to be in orbit far beyond Pluto in a mysterious region known as the Oort Cloud. Planet Nine has not yet been seen directly, but The Goblin appears to be under the gravitational influence of a giant unseen object, adding to astronomers’ certainty that it is out there.

Why are they calling it Planet 9? "Planet 9," isn't exciting! It's Planet X!

I never bought into all that anti-Pluto nonsense.

Re: The Outer Space thread
Mars and the Moon are reasonably close together in the southern sky RIGHT NOW.
Mars is the bright yellowish 'star' at about 4 o'clock to the Moon, about, ooh, 12 Full Moon widths away or about 16 widths of the Moon as it currently looks away.

Re: The Outer Space thread
My information is that it will take place on Monday morning (UK time) rather than Sunday?

Nice clear night tonight....that should have rung alarm bells.
Cloud will be thicker than on Jupiter Monday morning.
