Obviously everyone's seen a film or telly programme based on a King/Bachman novel or story.

Even if you didn't realise it.

There's not been a moment in history when at least 150 people on earth haven't exclaimed in shock (and sometimes dismay) "What!? That's by Stephen King!!?

Some examples:

The Shining - by Stephen King
The Running Man - by Stephen King
Cliffhanger - by Stephen King
Wes Craven's New Nightmare - by Stephen King
Single White Female - by Stephen King
The Great Gatsby - by Stephen King
Animal Farm - by Stephen King
Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm - by Stephen King
Emmerdale Farm - by Stephen King
Albion Market - by Stephen King
Shortland Street - by Stephen King

The list goes on and on...

Anyway, I thought I hadn't read anything by him.

But then I thought about it for about 3 seconds...

So, what, if any, books or stories have us Wendigans readed by the Master of Suspense/Man of 1000 Faces/The Big Yin?

I'd create a poll, but there are so many books and short stories the forum would collapse under the pressure. sad yes

I've read Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and its sequel Animal Farm.

And The Great Gatsby.

I've also read Jane Eyre. That was his best book. yes

Who wrote Jane Austen?

Was it George Eliot?

I've read Gerald's Game. I thought it was sadistic, and sought to punish sexual deviance.

I also read the first few chapters of Misery when it was serialised in some magazine. Although the person who made me read Gerald's Game said that couldn't have happened as no such serialisation took place. But she was a notorious gaslighter, before that word was even invented, so she was probably lying.

Stephen King should have written a book about her actually. Except it would have been too scary.

I have read the compendium Different Seasons which comprises four novellas:

Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption (filmed as The Shawshank Redemption in 1994)
Apt Pupil (filmed as Apt Pupil in 1998)
The Body (filmed as Stand by Me in 1986)
The Breathing Method (to be made into a film soon, apparently)

It was pretty good, especially Apt Pupil (dreadful film BTW).

I've also read less than half of The Dark Half, which was very long winded and plodding despite having a good story.

But then I lost it and have never had the will to try it again.

Finally, I've read the Lovecraftian short story Crouch End.

That was excellent.

Never.

I prefer Brett Easton Ellis. I bought a selection of three for my mother, and I found them slung in the drawer when I was over there earlier. She has no interest in anything but vodka and playing the doting housewife to her boyfriend. He gets waited on hand and foot. I treat her to modern classics and she doesn't even engage.

I have read almost all of Stephen King's novels, with the exception of a few that have been published in recent years. Most memorable is The Dark Tower, an epic saga of seven books. For me, this work is on the same level with the Lord of the Rings or the Game of Thrones, and it is a pity that it has not yet received a decent adaptation (I consider the film with Elba and McConaughey as a pity mistake).
