I don't think I've watched a whole episode of the Simpsons since around 1992.

I was forced to watch the Simpsons "movie" on DVD about 10 years ago, however. That was basically no more than several episodes stitched together.

I had the "Do the Bartman" single when that was out.

I remember my irritating Americophile friend at uni liking that in 1990. That's reminded me that The Simpsons had already been going for 7 years before I actually saw an episode in 1997, and that was 22 years ago!

Ivor the Engine set to return.

I wonder in what ways they could possibly ruin it.

Realistic storylines based on Ladbroke Grove, Clapham Junction and Hatfield.

What happened on the Common? I don't remember that.
I think I've struck gold here regarding an idea for an ongoing children's animated series...
Ladbroke Grove, Lockerbie, Munich Olympics, 9/11, the murder of Mr Klinghoffer (I've seen that as an opera) - it could be award winning, era defining. No less traumatic to kids than the concept of being locked in a glass coffin until a necrophiliac arrives after a century or two to revive you, or being poisoned by gifts given by jealous old hags.

Ginger Spice Girl Aloud won the Mask TV show. Or something. I don't really know to be honest.

Re: TV news items that don't need their own threads
I have to say, as someone who isn't exactly into sports other than a bit of tennis, I've always found A Question of Sport mildly watchable. It's not totally football orientated as one would expect and is fairly gentle but fun.
I imagine a revamped version is going to be incredibly annoying.
