Phoney Doodle mania is a better tattoo trend than most of the previous ones.

They slightly revolt me. I think I might have some sort of tattoophobia. I just don't know why anyone would want to deliberately permanently vandalise their skin for the sake of having some naff art drawn on it.

I also h8 them by and large.

Several exes of mine have tattoos (2/3 of those who accompanied me to the Resi-gig on Tuesday for example).

My ex and good chum Emu has a couple of tattoos that I find endearing though, cos they're ones she got when she was about 17 to annoy her strict parents, but who now regrets them badly cos they're a bit naff - but it was an act of teenage rebellion, so I admire her for it.

Also, they're not that bad (a silly tribal motif on her right upper arm and symbol on her big toe).

My other ex (who was with me at the gig - the one in SOD) had, when I met her, a very cool one on her right wrist that she'd taken from a textbook margin doodle she'd done at school when she was about 12 and that was very charming and discreet.

However, since then, she's had many more tattoos done and, although they're well executed, they're dreadful.

For example, she literally has a parrot tattooed on her shoulder.

And as for the one on her elbow, well the less said about that the better.

I'd go as far to suggest that it's the worst - and in the most bad taste - tattoo I've ever seen.

And that includes this...

I have 4 freckles which form a square if you pull the skin a bit, and that's good enough for me.

I have a nun none.
