The Mandela Effect
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_memoryWikipedia wrote:In 2010 the phenomenon of collective false memory was dubbed the "Mandela effect" by Fiona Broome, in reference to a false memory she reports of the death of South African leader Nelson Mandela in the 1980s, which she claims is shared by "perhaps thousands" of other people. Broome has speculated about alternate realities as an explanation, but most commentators suggest that these are instead examples of false memories shaped by similar factors affecting multiple people, such as social reinforcement of incorrect memories or false news reports and misleading photographs influencing the formation of memories based on them.

Re: The Mandela Effect
I've just stumbled across another example of the Mandela Effect. On the radio, a few minutes ago, they started to talk about Toni Braxton as though she's still alive. I was convinced that I'd heard about her death, on the news, years ago.
Confused, I checked online and these were the first two results I got:
Wikipedia says she's alive but the most popular question asked about her is how she died.

I think Toni Braxton went bankrupt quite dramatically at some point and that news-making 'catastrophe' in her life and career might have added to the confusion.
Also, people kept saying Whitney Houston was dead for ages and ages and as we all know she's still alive and well today.

Re: The Mandela Effect
About a million years ago I used to live with a huge Queen
fan, and a few years later I remember him turning up on a Quiz show on the proper telly all about the group Queen, but I remember him coming second, which he does, but I'm sure I that the person who won got 100% and he only got one question wrong, which I knew the right answer to, but it appears, the memory cheats

Re: The Mandela Effect
Just the other day my friend (the lecturer in film) was trying to convince me that Sam Neill had died several years ago.
I was all like...

Re: The Mandela Effect
Were you all living in the 1990s and were unable to fact-check?
