I'm back from my hols! I've just been to Lecster!

It was my first and only visit to Leicester that made me realise Sheffield isn't the least attractive city in Britain.

Oh, it's not that bad, it's got that Magazine, and A Chinese supermarket where The Charlotte was!

Jesus. I’d vaguely thought of Leicester as a nice place. Like York, with Indian food.

I once went to Peterborough by mistake (in the days when you had to turn off the A14 at Brampton Hut to stay on the A14, and I forgot to do so, and got onto the A1(M) instead) and I had to take the A47 and A6 to Leicester so as to reach my original destination of Nuneaton.

My diary records that the Leicester ring road was plagued with traffic jams, and I passed the time by looking at the houses and wondering which ones were most like the ones Joe Orton and Adrian Mole lived in.

Peterborough, nice cathedral.

I will say that now mini Cheddars do Red Leicester, they are the only kind I eat. I’ll never go back to the boring old originals. I wonder if they’ll taste different now I know they’re based on a town that looks like that.

Good point. I’ll need a bucket next time, just in case.
