What is your opinion on the American sitcom Friends?

As for me, I watched about two episodes circa 1998 when it was on I think Channel 4 and found it unamusing, with some really annoying, unlikeable characters and I couldn't understand the hype - and still can't. Like the Simpsons, I get annoyed when people reference it in everyday conversation, including my best friend.

It didn't do anything for me. The characters managed to be both bland and infantile. Plus, it was clearly a rip-off of the movie Singles.

Hate's a bit strong, but it's a No from me.

I used to watch it.

I never really liked it though.

It was just on all the time.

Especially just before we'd all going out clubbing on a Saturday night.

Of course, thanks to C5, it still is on all the time.

It could be very occasionally funny, but was overall smug and conspicuously written by committee.

I couldn't watch it now though - doing so would seem like a very retrograde and tragic step in my life.

I only ever watched one episode. I always mixed the show up with Thirtysomethings.

That said, the early eps weren't great and the last couple of seasons were dreadful. The ones in the middle were just right.
