No, me neither, they sound awful.

I like the first one. It's a pleasant turn of the (80s/90s) decade Christmassy film and has an almost tear jerking moral to the story in the end. This second one just seems to repeat a lot of the happenings in the first one but lacks the festive feeling and originality.

There's a University Challenge celebrity special currently on BBC Two. I don't know who any of the 8 celebrities are apart from Anne Dudley and something Edwards, a TV presenter.
