New World Rising by ELO is like an earlier stab at doing Mr Blue Sky but from five years earlier.

Wings' Power Cut, from 1973, feels like it's laying down the groundwork for Let 'Em In three years later.

I was going to nominate Liar and The Prophet's Song by Queen, but neither of them is particularly famous so far as I know, and in any case the precursor, Liar, is the better song.

Past the opening guitary bit for the first 15 seconds, the rest of the introduction to Date Stamp by ABC sounds like a prototype for Trevor Horn's production on Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood a year or two later.
