Re: Breaking learning thread
Christmas crackers aren't really a thing in America. You can get them, but yer average Americanx wouldn't be familiar with them.

Yes, I have seen Americans on YouTube who've not known what they are.

They don't know what they're missing, the poor things. They may all be equal, but they all equally lack a paper hat, a rubbish joke and a small novelty of variable quality.

Re: Breaking learning thread
That reminds me, at Christmas dinner at Fanmumanddad Three's I got in my cracker a keyring with a high quality plastic diamond hanging off it.
And yet I haven't seen it since Dec 25. I must have left it behind

I didn't get to pull, or even see, a cracker this Christmas.

Re: Breaking learning thread
We all know about personalised number plates, but I didn't realise that there are also personalised postcodes for "high profile organisations".
For example:
British Telecom's address is DH98 1BT
The Sun newspaper is E98 1SN
TSB Bank is BX4 7SB
Egg Banking is DE99 3GG

You missed the two most exciting ones:
S2 4SU Sheffield United Football Club
S6 1SW Sheffield Wednesday Football Club

Re: Breaking learning thread
I'd forgotten about GIR 0AA, which is particularly egregious because it has 3 letters in the first bit instead of 2.

I'm more amazed that the Girobank is now Santander Corporate Banking.

D'ya know, that rings a bell. But I probably thought it was simply a coincidence at the time.

That reminds me of Radio 2's text number - 88291 - "88 to 91" being Radio 2's old wavelength/bandwidth thingy and one of their slogans.

I know a fair bit about music, I'm also the son of a former music teacher, but I've only just this minute found out that "celli" is the plural of cello.
