Re: Breaking learning thread
The Drag artist in Steptoe and Son film was played by Hinge, or possibly Bracket.

You know those green lights that diggers have on them now?
They indicate that the driver has got their seatbelt on.

Apparently, Baby D and Baby Dee aren't the same act. Next week's album running commentary thread is officially in chaos.

I've just read that Labour's Tracy Brabin and the Conservatives' Esther McVey presented on Children's BBC in the late 80s.
I do remember the former on Coronation Street and the latter on a show called How Do They Do That?, with Des Lynam I think it was.

That's your loss.
It was the best pre-news cartoon based on a Daily Mirror comic strip ever.

What a dreadful disgrace - the latter shouldn't have been unleashed on children. I was watching CBBC in the 80's but thankfully I don't remember Esther.

Whether you love it or hate it (I think it's terrific), "Dogs" is a clever piece of work. John and Pete's comic utterances refer to actual greyhounds which were entered in the 1968 English Greyhound Derby. Camira Flash was the eventual winner and was owned by the Duke of Edinburgh, hence the line "It's the Duke's Dog, innit?" Yellow Printer did indeed break the track record at White City during one of the heats, but failed to qualify after a fall in the quarter final. Anyone who bet "25 nicker" (Pounds Sterling) on Yellow Printer would have been sorely disappointed - the equivalent sum nowadays is just over £300. http://www.greyhoundderby.com/1968-greyhoundderby.htm
I now understand that "It's a Duke's* Dog, innit" line!!
