I was shown some sports thobes in the style and material of adidas striped tracksuit tops, with that sweater sort of stretchy cuff. But it's an evening event.

Oh I don't know. I hadn't planned for stairs. I think it could just be discreetly lifted. I was hoping so anyway, or my plans for later will have to be looked at again.

I've had to perform an internet search to find out what a thobe is.

The nerve of it! I've put a lot of thought into this attire. A flattering tribute to an entire society and history, while being sufficiently and discreetly feminist and modern with gentle masculine nods via the finest English tailoring. I've even compromised by discounting my favoured columns and fitted lower halves for something with enough A line to curtsey without straining the fabric.
