Too bl**dy long!
And...
Yeah, you know.
Great songs that plod on and generally hang around for much much too long despite being initially and/or generally great.
For me this exemplified by the brilliant Harrison-penned Beadlez zong "All Too Much" off of Lellow Sumbarine.
Basically, up until about the 4:30/La Marseillaise point it's great, but then it goes on and ao n and a on and son and on and so on...

Re: Too bl**dy long!
I agree. I was playing it and thinking the same, the other night.

Wings' I'm Carrying is acknowledged by everyone, even George Harrison, as a masterpiece and it only lasts 2 minutes and 43 seconds. However, I do always feel it should end after 2 minutes and 2 seconds, as the final bit of string instrumentation isn't needed.

According to someone in the comments section, the strings on it are actually a 10CC Gizmo pretending to be strings.

BTW, I've realised that it's not La Marseillaise, but some other classical h*rn riff.
In my defence however I must say that my error is based on the fact that I'm used to listening to the song in context of the original LP (ergo: I'm a cool aficionadosaddo) and therefore the aforementioned mistake is based on the fact that "All You Need Is Love" is the next song and as everyone knows that starts with the opening bit of God Save teh Queen.

Re: Too bl**dy long!
The first minute of Wish You Were Here is totally unnecessary and so is the last minute.

The Rolling Stones' Angie is great but could do with a minute cut out of the middle.

Won't Give In by the Finn Brothers is one of my favourite songs and should have been used in the closing credits of a Spider-Man movie but the last 35 seconds serve no purpose.

Exactly the same with "Time Waits For No One".
It has one of the most beautiful intros and Jagger's lyrics are great, but after about 4:00 should really start thinking about fading out, but no, well over six-and-an-half minutes it is.
In fact, the Stones are repeat offenders.

I've seen what's left of the Gizmotron in all it's plastic gears glory!

I agree too. I always stop it before it goes boring, which is approximately the point at which they cut away from it in the film.

The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again needs three minutes cut out of the middle.
