they could have edited this bloke talking down a lot, and interspersed it with the music in a creative way, not just have him droning on all over the top.

I don't understand what the talking's for. It seems to serve no purpose, other than trying to convince us she's cool but, if someone's cool, you don't need someone trying to convince you of it.
