That said, it's very short and it's the album Lou Reed made after the critical and commercial failure of his magnum opus Berlin.

Basically, he was so disheartened, angry and disillusioned by it that he did that thing musical artistes do occasionally - i.e. go in the studio and create an album that they consider to be a sneering, desultory 'middle-finger' to all and sundry (record company, critics, fans, the lot).

Sometimes they inadvertently fail.

On even rarer occasions they accidentally record a masterpiece.

This isn't an example of the latter case however.

Instead, it's an curate's egg.

To say the least.

PS - be on the lookout for some the worst lyrics ever written.

Off the top of my head I can think of at least two lyrical moments that Marc Bolan would've'd scribbled out in embarrassment.
