The forum in which all human experience resides. Especially for fans of the now-deceased original Hall of the Wendigo. Still Number One with the core demographic.
Not a Gr8 album, but the songs were just destroyed by the ghastly over production, you could just imagine a timid mousey little Judee Sill playing her little songs then a fat, balding producer in a lounge suit, and cigar telling her that it'll be great when he's finished the songs, and for her to keep out of the studio while he competes the album for her.
Except she produced and arranged it.
And the basic songs were only ok to start off with if I'm being honest. 2 little stars for me.
I know that when I downloaded her stuff it was because of her belated reputation (see also: Vashti Bunyan, Linda Perhacs, These Trails etc), but it's just served to remind me why I've not revisited any of her stuff - nor put her stuff on any 'mix-tape' CDs for friends.
It's not bad per se, but the restless compositions, inappropriately over-egged production, unsubtle lyrical religiosity and her faintly whining accent just go to demonstrate why she wasn't the success she and others hoped she'd be.
Considering her demise at such a young age - sad, but true.
Basically, a lot of other musicians and bands did it better (including the ones I mentioned above).
