In my old house, before I sorted out the render, it would be 95% RH in the front room after it rained.

It was an Edwardian terrace so was built over a pit, with the floor supported on rafters, rather than on a concrete pad like a modern house.

Meanwhile, back in the present, it's 20.5 C and 75% RH. There is an issue with condensation, it's true.

My resettable hygrometer informed me that the humidity had dropped to a low of 33% whilst I was away. I don't think I've ever seen it quite that low before. It must have been when it was icy outside.

When I had a shower and came back into my bedroom the humidity went from 42% to 44%. It's as if the hygrometer was watching me and my damp body.

The room I'm currently in has a humidity of 55% and 19 degrees of heat.

The heating hasn't kicked in since this morning and yet the house has yet to cool down by more than one degree.

I wonder how long it'll be before it kicks in again?

In other news, at midnight, I shall be turning all my radiators on full and the thermostat on low but leaving all the interior doors open, so that the heat level throughout the house equalises, to see what affect that has on the effectiveness of my heating.
