| Finished! I enjoyed that. Nothing like what I was expecting - something rather more BBC Records/Claire & Friends I think, with a bit of comedy and chat thrown in. Instead we got a fully produced musical studio album that could have stood up in its own right, and with success Marti Caine could have been a famed solo singer rather than the New Faces host that I remember her for.
I might have reshuffled a couple of the earlier tracks as at one point I got a tiny bit bored in amongst the slow song gala, but after that it got all mixed up again. A couple of generic-but-pleasant tracks, but overall enjoyable and something that could easily slot into my collection.

| It is done.
That was a very spirited, charming, solidly entertaining and more-than-occasionally excellent album.
As an artiste, that she's underrated barely covers it.
Anybody more internationally famous would've had huge success with it I'm certain.
As Butterpops points out though, for 1981, it was perhaps a bit dated.
Also, something of a Spice melange of genres and moods.
Still, it cheered me up immensely (I've had a cr*ppy few days) and exceeded all of my expectations in virtually all regards:
Songwriting, production, musicianship and arrangements and, of course, the sheer technical talent and charismatic elan that Ms. Caine showcased throughout.
I just remember her as a kind of middle-of-the-road, gobby stand-up when I was a kid, but she was obviously supremely talented.
Sometimes people such as MC are, if not artistically hobbled, but, by the simple fact that they're so durn good at so many things, fail to receive the attention and recognition they genuinely deserve in their lifetime's.
God bless her. _________________ Disprove the return of a potato (5)

I wonder if she was intended as a British Joan Rivers. Speaking of which, did Joan Rivers ever do such an album? |

| Fortunately, this album was recorded before she was a racist. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/17/marti-caine-apartheid-sheffield _________________ Disprove the return of a potato (5)
