Good news or otherwise?
Re: Sam Cooke - Ain't That Good News (1964)
It is over.
It was very pleasant.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

I shall give it 4 stars, although it's more of a 3.9.

I kind of expected this to be a bit more thought provoking and legendary, but great voice aside it was rather lacklustre and generic, with some very bland and almost nonexistent instrumentation which is what normally keeps me interested in these things. It all needed bringing up to date and into the 2020s 1980s to lift it a little.

Re: Sam Cooke - Ain't That Good News (1964)
I loved that.
It was a bit of a game of two halves though - Side 1 was sprightly, light and little bit playful and Side 2 was melancholy and melodramatic.
Probably a remaster, but the production and mix was spot on and his voice is one of the very best voices in the history of music.
Nat King Cole was obviously mentioned as an influence (and I wouldn't argue with that), but you can hear the influence on later artistes as well.
Especially Marvin Gaye and Bobby Womackand Ed Sheeran.
All that said...
"Lovely stuff"
Not my words Michael...
