All the hotels in the Glasgow area are very expensive in mid-June, so much so that it would be cheaper to go and stay somewhere else, even allowing for an extra week's storage charges.
I'm thinking of going over to Dundee to look at the ruined piers of the old Tay Bridge that collapsed in 1879.

I have no holiday plans.
I thought about having a holiday, last year but couldn't be bothered.

I think I need to go someplace where it's not raining all the time, not saying it's been dark and dismal, but I think I've got vitamin D deficiency.
I won't though.

I’m having a long weekend in Coimbra next month.

That would be a good holiday.

Fangirl might want to consider staying in Broughty Ferry or Newport on Tay. The latter would allow her sunset views of the bridge itself, beside which she’ll find the old remnants silhouetted. I’m an expert, especially after my recent sojourn in the East Neuk of Fife.

At the 18 minute mark, they tour some pubs in Broughty Ferry, which is a very nice town. Like the East Neuk, the pubs are very good. More like Devon or Dorset style coastal pubs with food and drink awards rather than pubs you find in any city.
I have myself had sex in The Fisherman's Tavern. Well, one of the rooms upstairs. I didn’t really want to go some young guys flatshare (he’d already described it so well) so I said if you pay for the room, I’ll buy dinner, and we can split the drinks.
As they said in the video, it’s a very cosy venue.
I highly recommend an afternoon in St Andrews with an hour or two at Toppings bookshop, followed by a drive to Anstruther Fish Bar, purchases eaten by the harbour, which is supposed to be Queen Camilla’s favourite fish and chip shop.

I haven't been on holiday since 2019 and there's a possibility I might be going on holiday for a week in the next couple of months. The trouble is, the friend I'd be going with wants to go to the Lake District but I want to go to Dorset.
I love the Lake District, but I've spent too long in the North now and have a craving to be on the south coast.

Can’t you go to both? It’d take an afternoon to switch up.

There's always the issue of money or time involved when it comes to holidays. It's more likely to be one this year and the other the next.

Don’t make life an obstacle course or it will be. I mean, it already is anyway.

Is Wendy now also sick of spending too much time in the north? I’m tempted to offer up my sofa, but I think she’d have a better time at Nightjars - I don’t watch horror films.

I find it hard to believe that anyone could ever tire of the north.

The Lake District is only a little over an hour away from here. In terms of travel time that's like someone living in north London going on holiday to Croydon.
I make no apology for craving a distant and exotic south coast holiday.

When a woman is tired of the north she is tired of life.

During lockdown, I went on holiday to Bayswater, while my brother holidayed across the park at my place. It changed up the local walks available. It was interesting to what businesses were closed round there - a little flavour. The queue outside Tesco Queensway wasn’t as friendly as the queue outside Sainsburys South Kensington - an observation he also made in reverse. Had to go to Waitrose for anything like a less chilly experience.
