OK, I was going to post this on the deader-than-dead *** Skybore, but I realised that, since everything I ever recommend is for Nu-HotWers, I may as well start the thread here.
Anyway, I started watching The Strain last night.
I had to force myself through the first 30 minutes of E1, but once I had I thought that Wendi-Pops would surely like it.
It's like something from the '90s.
If it was less gory and entertaining a bit more contemporary seeming it'd be on on the 8-9pm slot on on The Horror Channel.
It's an utterly silly vampire/zombie/satanic disaster TV series with a main protagonist like an obnoxious version of TV-OCD detective Monk with family problems reminiscent of Jim Carrey's character in Liar Liar, a super-hot, Hispanic sidekick pathologist chick (the actress of which cannot act for Toffifee), squillionaires seeking immortality, nazi vampires, crusty old blokes out of Harry Potter demon hunters, gruff cop chiefs who say things like "you get the job done "Eph", but you're a maverick and my ass is on the line if you screw up again!" and an undead Marilyn Manson rockstar-alike wreaking havoc on groupies and A&R people.
It's absolutely brilliantly dreadful, but deliciously entertaining.

Is it like Salem's Lot meets 30 Days of Night meets The Walking Dead meets the X-Files?

There're also elements of Buffy, CSI, Arachnophobia and John Carpenter's The Thing.

It's got everything in it that's worth having.

On the basis of just a few tracks featuring warbling songstrels and featuring people out of the Cocteau Twins playing the musics (and the nice packaging and coloured vinyl) I would like to recommend this LP to StevBorkZ...
