ELO - Time (1981).
Because StevieBachyButtonBaby demanded it, here's ELO's 1981 album Time, the moment when they tore up the rule book, binned the orchestra and went full-on Synth-Pop.

Time is the ninth studio album by English rock band Electric Light Orchestra. It is a concept album about a man from the 1980s who is taken to the year 2095 where he is confronted by the dichotomy between technological advancement and a longing for past romance. The record topped the UK Albums Chart for two weeks and has since attracted a cult following, particularly among retrofuturist enthusiasts.
Among the album's "unexpected" fans are the Flaming Lips and Daft Punk.
In an early 1980s Rolling Stone magazine interview, Steve Winwood said that Time had influenced him. Ladyhawke has stated that Time is one of her five favourite albums.

I don't have a copy of it.
Is that a link to an easy-to-use playlist at the top?

I'm happy to do this when and if The Countess likes.
Wednesdays seem to be generally good for her.

Kraftwerk retired when this album came out.
They said, "We can't compete with a record like that."

They may have said, "Mit so einem Rekord können wir nicht mithalten."
