Yes, we've been plagued by circling noiseplanes today too.

I was in the garden earlier this afternoon and a small propeller aeroplane kept flying around overhead - towing one of those thrilling banners behind it that said something.

But what did it say?

The first time it flew past the banner was backwards, but transparent, and I worked out the last-but-one word was "baby". Then it flew directly over and I caught nothing. It went past about 5 times, each time at an awkward angle to where I was but I eventually managed to piece more of the words together:

CONGRATS ELSIE(?) AND ???? ON THE BIRTH OF YOUR BABY GIRL!



Whoever paid for that really should have just bought the baby a much better actual physical gift.

And a new mother called Elsie? Is this the 1950s?

A load of jets have just flown over.

Based on previous experience that will be something to do with the monarchist party going on in London.

That was probably the Red Arrows - other than helicopters they were the only aircraft in the flypast.

Due to low cloud I was unable to get visual confirmation. But it's usually the Red Arrows.

There's a black, twin-prop plane flying low over Sheffield. It's going round and round in circles and seems very Area 51 and sinister.

That site on page one of this thread says it's flight UKP152 flying from Leeds Bradford to nowhere. It is an VULCANAIR P 68R VICTOR (P68) and flying at just 1700 ft.

It's finally stopped circling and is heading towards Neepsend.

I heard what sounded like a fighter jet flying over here in Wolverhamptonshire earlier but didn't think much about it. It wasn't particularly low but sounded quite loud, with the sound going on for a while, and not like the usual plane-related sounds you usually get around here.

Then a while later I heard it fly over again, so this time I had a look at the flight radar thingy. It was some sort of RAF jet and had launched earlier in Norfolk or Essex or somewhere in the east, flew across the West Midlands and into Wales, circled numerous times around the Aberystwyth area, and then back across this way again.

I wonder what was going on.

There's now a helicopter flying over which has flown from Fulham in London to near Chester and back again.
