What books are you reading??????????
I have never read anything by Terry Pratchett.
I am now reading a novel by Terry Pratchett.
It is quite possibly the funniest novel I've ever read.
Der Flabberghast.

Re: What books are you reading??????????
A lot at the moment....usually only read one at a time but reading for the first time :-
Ignition - An Informal History of Liquid Rocket Propellants (Science)
Children of Ruin - Sci Fi
The Saints of Salvation - Sci Fi
Failure is not an Option - Science History
Into the Black - Science History
Re-Reads
The Hydrogen Sonata - Sci Fi
All the "Dune" books in order of the storyline
I now have to isolate for 10 days so I should get caught up a bit.

Re: What books are you reading??????????
I've got to read
Dhanveer Singh Brar: Beefy's Tune
That new Pete Towshend novel I got at Christmas. 2019. I don't think it was the one he was researching when err.. never mind.
And not one, but two Brian Bagnall books on the history of the Amiga. Only problem every sentence he seems to wright has about 3 more words in that it actually needs, which makes it a right slog to get through themas the writing seems to be more verbose that is required

Der Flabberghast.
They're page turners and rather moorish. I think I was halfway through the 3 or was the 4th? when I though that I'd been reading the same book 3 or was it 4 times?

I'm reading the 12th.
Witches Abroad.
It is genuinely laugh-out-loud funny.

Doesn't The Countess like Terry Pratchett?

I wasn't going to mention it, but I hate Pratchett.

I read a few pages of one of his books once. They didn't grab me.

But this one is like Carry On Witching.
Or as if Carry On did a spoof of The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella.

To me they seem more like Douglas Adams went through Fritz Leiber's wastepaper basket, and then Pratchett went through Douglas Adams' wastepaper basket.

Re: What books are you reading??????????
I read Dan Simmons' novel Terror about the mysterious disappearance of Sir John Franklin's expedition. A couple of years ago, a series was filmed based on it, but it does not come close to conveying the gloomy and oppressive atmosphere of the film. If you want to immerse yourself in the everyday environment of a 19th century British ship, love secrets and have always wanted to learn more about survival in the icy deserts of the Arctic, then this book is your choice.
