There are currently no ships in the West Midlands.

Oh, I forgot I don't live there anymore.

There's currently a ship tens of miles inland towards Manchester!

I guess that'll be to do with the Manchester Ship Canal.

Fascinating. I can see that those people who [used to pre-pandemic] sell fish from their fishing boat in the market, are not currently out fishing.

There's been a lot of back-and-forth between Brightlingsea and the Gunfleet Sands wind farm this morning.

This needs a thread of it's own.

I wonder which of us is the most coastal NHOTWer?

I myself am a mere 700 yards from the nearest tidal water, and 7 miles from the actual sea.

I am 64 miles away from the North Sea and 64 miles away from the Irish Sea.

It looks like the nearest ship to me is in Scunthorpe, 37 miles away.

I didn't know they had ships in Scunthorpe. I am suddenly very impressed with the place.

I'm still thinking if I should have used the word Narrowboat or not,

Canalboat. Narrowboat. Barge. Aren't they all the same thing?

Actually, I'm sure someone once told me that a barge was strictly for carry goods only, one of those more open top ones. Or is it the other way round?

I want more NHOTWers to participate in the 'Most Coastal NHOTWer' challenge. So that I can win.

While driving the back way into the Braehead shopping centre this morning, I was shocked to see an enormous cruise ship looming over the trees. I hadn't previously known Braehead was that close to the river. Or that people were taking cruises to Glasgow.

I even saw several buses labelled CRUISE SHUTTLE making their way importantly towards it.
