Generations, we've all heard talk of them. People say things like, "It's not happened in five generations."
But how long is a generation?
No one seems to agree.
Here's where you can answer the question, definitively.

I always take a generation to mean 20 years, as most parents have, traditionally, been 20 years older than their first offspring.

I have always thought a generation to be 20yrs. I think 25 would be more sensible. However, the average age for first time mothers is about 29....so there is an argument for 30

People live longer and have kids later than they did too.

I always assume 25 years (a tidy 4 per century) pre-Industrial Revolution, and 30 afterwards.
