Classic cyclist behaviour - ride straight into someone on foot and then try and blame them.

This afternoon, I've ordered the cheapest bike I can find online that's being sold by a reputable dealer. It cost me £125.

I'm hoping I'll be able to upgrade its fixtures and fittings, as and when they fall apart, to make it into a better bike.

It seems to have mainstream fixtures and fittings, so I reckon there's a chance.

Only time will tell if I can.

It was while checking my confirmation email that I saw the email telling me my energy company's knocking £10 a month off my energy bills.

If I'd seen that first, I'd've bought the £225 bike I'd been looking at.

It's been despatched. It should be here between tomorrow and Friday.

I've been watching loads of videos about how to upgrade cheap bikes.

I reckon I can now replace the wheels, tyres, pedals, gears, crank sets, handlebars, brakes, gear shifters, frame and saddle.

It might be arriving today.

Then again, it might be arriving tomorrow or the day after.

I await further news.

It's arrived.

The instruction manual has the written instructions and the illustrations on completely different pages from each other.

I have assembled the thing but have no idea how to get the gear changing mechanisms set up.

I shall have to watch some YouTube videos.

My test ride across the living room has taught me that you do forget how to ride a bike.

I can't get more than three feet without falling over.

I still haven't ridden it yet. I'm having to take a YouTube crash course in setting up brakes properly.

It seems the spacers were in the wrong way round.

Also, the front brake cable hadn't been fitted into the lever housing.

More exciting news as it develops.

Today, I shall be trying to put the spacers on my front right brake pad in the right order.
