Bitcoin is worth just $36,027.

Ethereum is worth £2,180.

Bitcoin is somehow up 3.14% over the last 3 months.

Ethereum is up 25.62% over the same period.

However, Bitcoin is down 17% over the past month.

And Ethereum is down nearly 11% over the same period.

It is a very wibbly wobbly picture.

Bitcoin's down to $34,601 and still falling.

Ethereum's down to £2,078 but starting to stabilise a bit.

Now to check how Bitcoin and Ethereum are doing. I reckon we're approaching make or break time for the plucky pretend currencies.

Bitcoin is down to $33,205 and still falling.

Ethereum is down to £1,976 but has, for now, halted its plunge.

It's suddenly shot up to $33,365.

Ethereum is now at £1,942 but has shot up by nearly 7.5% in the last few hours.

In the early hours, it fell to just £1,788

The word on the street is that it's 'risk off' time in all asset classes.

People's hopes that the bitcoin price would be negatively correlated with equities have been dashed.

I agree.

I was assuming that, as the value of real money fell, the value of cryptocurrency would rise in relation to it.

The good news is Bitcoin is now up to $32,011 and Ethereum is up to £1,971.

Ethereum is nearly 9% up on the start of the day.

Against the pound, Bitcoin is up by over 6%.

 

I don't have a clue what that means.
