For days, I've been trying to work out how to turn this post into a joke that plays on the words "four lawn" and "forlorn."

I do feel a bit wistful about no longer having the house and lawns. If I'd mentioned that, it might have spurred your creativity.

Gosh, it was this Friday in May 2 years ago that I moved out.

While de-mossing the block paving driveway with a wire brush thingy yesterday evening just as it was going dark....

It must have been about 9pm. That's awfully late to be out doing maintenance work.

It was indeed about 9pm, but as it was a slow and laborious project with minimal tools we were determined to get as much done as we could before it went dark and to give us a sort of head start for the next day.

It's all done now and the drive has returned to it's original brick-pink colour.

I do too actually. I don't mind a treelined mossy driveway myself, but a clean drive also looks nice.

I fight a losing battle over moss. I like it on my terrace, so my mother sneaks round when I’m out and gets rid of it.

Apparently it's a "Broad Bodied Chaser", type of Dragonfly, likes ponds, which is odd as I don't have one (yet).
I do have a swamp though...

Speaking of which, my lawns are a total state. I've not had the chance to do them in weeks, thanks to real life things and weather getting in the way. bawl

The next time I do them, I'm going to have to get the hover mower out, as my cordless mower and my manual mower are not likely to be up to it. bawl

I have noticed a lot of weeds and out of control stuff this year. I was out for a walk the other night and a street I’ve always admired was in a terrible state. I thought to myself, the fact that Poland is due to overtake UK living standards (and one or two Eastern bloc countries already have) is now showing.

That mower is an ironic concept now. You use it to maintain the garden that it's too hot to actually get out and enjoy.

Like something from a JG Ballard novel.
