Did we have a thread about 2 versions of a song, that weren't covers as such but 2 versions released by the different song writers, eg Crystal Ships by CSN and Jefferson Airplane?
I was going to mention that the Hollies released a version of The Beetles' If I needed Someone the same day that the album came out:

I'm only asking because I note that a Doctor Who centred YouTuber whose videos I would sometimes watch has been charged with murder.
