Right at the bottom of the main page there's "Today's active topics", which seems to do an okay job.

So there is. Behind the scenes, I've found a, "Recent Topics," widget but haven't worked out yet how I'm supposed to activate it.

Are you able to move these tabs around? The aforementioned one could do with promotion to the top if possible.

I have now put a link to it, right at the top of the page, between the Home and the Calendar buttons. However, I have now spotted the flaw with it, which is that it resets at midnight.

Hmmm. The one thing I liked about the old "View unread posts" tab is that it kept threads unread and displayed for like ever, unless you logged out.

I have now removed the, "Recent Posts," tab from the top of the page and replaced it with a, "Portal," tab. If you click on that, it takes you to a page that has the most recent posts listed on the left hand side of the page.

I can also make them appear on the sidebar of every page but I worry that people might find that annoying. I shall introduce it sometime tomorrow and see if people like it or not.

I have now renamed, the "Portal," tab, "New Posts."

So, anyway, click on the, "New Posts," tab at the top of the page and it will take you to the Recent Posts widget and all the latest news from the forum.

There should now be a "+" and a "-" option to the right of each post, and a, "Thanks," button next to the "Multi-Quote," button. Right now, I'm too scared to press any of them.
