Interesting question. If it was The Flock of Seagulls I'd say F straight off, but 'A' is more unusual as a prefix. I might be tempted to put them under A.

And what about groups who's names start with a number, like 1-Speed Bike or 310?

I file numbers under the letter they start with - for example, I file the 49ers under 'F' for 'Forty Niners'. 2 Unlimited under 'T'.
