I've borrowed a dining table and chairs from a neighbour who's going abroad today - he and my son brought it up the stairs this morning.
Normally we just eat on the floor, reclining on the Persian rug with cushions and small low occasional tables, but I thought a dining table might be a nice change.

Is anyone else having a cheeseboard? In the evening we are having a selection of cheeses with a variety of chutneys and some bread. I could happily eat the lot now in front of Moulin Rouge (on Paramount) but I won't.
'Come What May' as sung by Nicole Kidman and Ewen McGregor is a cover version I much prefer to the original. I have the CD and everything - it offers a fuller version than the film, with a fabulous ending that builds and builds.
I can't believe it's nearly twenty years since Kylie cemented her triumphant comeback as a green Absinthe fairy in Moulin Rouge, at the same time as her #1 which was nearly impossible to get away from at the time.

I had a quantity of Brie and crackers for tea, and I woke up in the night feeling like bacteriological warfare was being waged in my insides.

We enjoyed a lovely blue cheese from the Hebrides. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the provenance of it but I have to admit, it's up there with Stilton - it may even be ahead. Stunning stuff.

I can't throw the cheese out in the rubbish because the cats/foxes will rip open the bag to get it. I'll have to bury it in the garden

Just as long as it's scraps of camembert, brie, fromage de chevre etc and not an entire wheel of parmesan though.

I might drop the cheeses into one of the bins in the park on my way to the Co-op, that's an expedient that's served me well in the past
Quote :
My friend got rid of them, at last, by taking them down to a sea-side town, and burying them on the beach. It gained the place quite a reputation. Visitors said they had never noticed before how strong the air was, and weak-chested and consumptive people used to throng there for years afterwards.

I can understand why you wouldn't want bin liners shredded and the contents strewn about. So why not just place the unwanted cheese on the pavement, thereby allowing the foxes to simply pick it up?

Exactly. What a lovely surprise for a tramp.

That would be littering. Also, it might attract other foxes and tramps if the word spread that my house was a source of free cheese.
As it is, I dumped the Brie in the bin in the park. I left the Camembert in the fridge because it occurred to me that the 2 attacks of indigestion occurred after consumption of 1. Brie and 2. Brie+Camembert. There isn't yet any evidence that Camembert alone would cause problems. So I have just now had some Camembert and crackers, for science.

I am as yet unaffected by cheesywobbles. So it may be that I can continue to eat Camembert freely.
