Listening to this (because I am) it gives me an idea why so many people hold Warren Zevon in high esteem.
I mean, not really, but I guess he was dong this kind of stuff at least from around the time Spruce started off his rock-version of 'The Gr8 American Novel' shite schtick and subsequently turned it into a 'liberal-macho' endless tour/album-release machine with a supporting 900+ backing band of every single session musician ever born and then hundreds of star turns and cameos.
Zevon died young and relatively unsung by comparison, but he was - at the very least - instrumental in creating this above-mentioned rock version of the GAN.
