I don't really disagree.
The post-Enter the Dragon craze obviously filtered through to (especially) black folk in the USA (Jim Brown and all) and CM filtered it through a more low-key and melancholy prism.
Carl Douglas just went all out for it.
No Black-On message or social consciousness trip - just little y*llow fellows fighting each other like in a back alley in Revenge of the Pink Panther.
Or that Spider man film.

I think he missed the point of Shakermaker, actually a lot of 'em I'd imagine
