The test took place in a soundproof booth. It was lovely and quiet in there, I nearly fell asleep.

I've had some water trapped in my ear since teatime yesterday.

The only tried and trusted solution I know of is to get all pointy things (cotton buds, chopsticks, bent coat hangers, splintery pencils etc) and violently poke around in your ear until something happens.

I tried all that. But then I saw some advice to twist up the corner of a tissue to make a stiff 'wick', and stick that in your ear and rotate it.
After a few false starts getting the right wick thickness, it worked!

My eustachian tube on the left side is stuck open. I can hear myself breathing. It's very unnerving.
