Test Match Special isn't on Radio 4 Longwave.
I spent ages setting up a AM radio in preparation. I'd have been better off with a DAB radio.

There are some recordings of the radio broadcast of the Marx Brothers (well, two of 'em) Flywheel, Shyster and Flywheel

Makes a change from the BBC adaptations:
More than a touch of the restorer putting themselves as equal to the creator. Oh, Dirk Maggs.

I didn't realise that. I used to quite like the BBC version of FSF, but that's put me off.
OTOH the Peter Cook Why Bother? recordings are great, some of the best things he did, and they were painstakingly gleaned from hours of drunken ramblings by Chris Morris.

It's the spiritual heir to Derick and Clive. With none of that potty mouthed nonsense.

I've been waiting since 1981 for them to repeat that!
I bet it's rubbish.

Re: What's that on your radio?
I got that from the shop, and it wasn't exactly rubbish, but it wasn't much good either.
Let me put it this way, if I'd caught it on Radio 4 at the time I'd have listened to the whole thing, but I wouldn't have been sorry that I hadn't taped it.
It's quite well researched, the climactic sea fight on the shore at Whitby correctly refers to the flat rock that's just offshore from the beaches to the south of the port, enabling one to wade out hundreds of yards in warm water in summer 1980 before encountering a sudden coldness and darkness that makes one pause and turn back to the shore and happy things.
Looking at the seabed map that part of the coast really is a land/sea of contrasts - the long flat foreshore, but after that the sea is quickly deeper than almost anywhere else along the British coast.

Re: What's that on your radio?
I bought a new (1990s) radio!
It's better on FM+MW than the Armstrong old one, but not as good on LW, which is what I bought it for, TMS FTW!
I should have got a d*g*tal radio,
Was cheap though. And it can pick up Rock Radio, which no other radio can as it's too close to another far stronger channel, SuperNarrow yah!
Oh, it's not Rock Radio anymore, it's a indie channel now
