Normally I go all in twink, but in this case daddy has improved with the decades.

As Time Goes By. Surely as gentle as tv gets? I always watch that if I come across a repeat.

That model railway thingy on Channel 5 at weekends, where three teams compete against each other each week to build the best large model railway, which then get judged. They often make specific scenes from films and programmes and incorporate them in the setup.

Fred Dibnah's Industrial Age - currently showing I think weekly on BBC Four. The series is from 1999 and I remember watching it when it was first on. He travels around the UK looking at feats of engineering and the most boringly delightful Victorian mills and factories and their inner workings.

Has anyone seen The Joy of Paining on BBC Four, with American Bob Ross? It seems to be on a lot on that channel. It's from the 80s and I don't think it got shown here at the time but for some reason has made its way to UK lockdown TV.
Bob Ross died in 1995.

Are you saying that "Sweet Bird of Truth" by The The is about him?

I went to all that trouble of putting it in fancy italics and everything!

I hate 'gentle' telly. It puts me in a suicidal Sunday evening sort of mood.

I do absolutely know what you mean. There should be a word for that very specific feeling. The Germans may have one, they often do have exclusive words for niche emotional states.

The German word for it is "Ichhassesanftefernseheresversetztmichineineselbstmörderischesonntagabendstimmung."

After having not seen it for about 35 years, a couple of days ago I watched an episode of Sorry! with Ronnie Corbett on Freeview channel 56 or 65. My memory from seeing it as a child was that it was dull - and it is really in its rather old fashioned setting, but I actually laughed out loud a couple of times!
