Yorkshire puds with Christmas dinner?

I was showing my mum pictures of people's Christmas dinners on Facebook and she was outraged that one plate had 2 yorkshire puds on it. She said they're not an appropriate Christmas dinner item, and I must say I agree with her.

As much as I like a YP I don't think they belong in the pantheon of Christmas dinner items.
Still, if I found one on my festive platter I'd still eat it.

Yorkshire puddings go with anything and they hold lots of gravy. You need lots of gravy when trying to eat turkey. Therefore, Yorkshire puddings are ideal for Christmas dinner.

My friend's dinner plate picture also showed that she'd helped herself to six pigs in blankets as well as the puds, turkey, gravy, roasters, mash and sprouts.

Oh, I didn't object to the mash. We ourselves always have both mash and roasters with our Xmas dinna.

Hash browns are horrible. I don't know how people can eat them.

I believe that the kind of hash browns you're talking about are those ubiquitous frozen triangular 'things' that seem to have become a depressing ever-present on the low class breakfast de nos jour.
I refer to the properly made hash brown, more akin to the Swiss-style rösti.
Done properly it is a thing of sublime wonder.

I love hash browns, especially the frozen triangular ones. I have 6 of them for my tea sometimes. (Cooked of course)

It's a yes from me. Festive dining should primarily be about enjoyment, so have whatever you most enjoy.
I also agree with Wendi that the Yorkshire pudding makes a fine plate on a plate - and by the time everything has soaked through, you have a real treat in store for the last couple of mouthfuls.
Also, when the gravy on the plate seems to be running out, you can just cut through the side of the Yorkshire pudding to release more. It's like having a tap to hand.
