That said, the main reason I haven't is that I was asleep the first time, and I've just forgotten about it when it was time to do it subsequently; is it the 2nd or 3rd time?
I didn't know anything about the first one until after it had happened, then last week I was asleep in front of the TV and only found out afterwards that there'd been a second one, then this week you could barely miss it as people have now upped the noise pollution by letting off loud fireworks!
Like you I have no problem with people celebrating the hard work of the NHS (members of my family are/were nurses) but I'm never keen on these social media fads which guilt trip people into doing things. What started out as a quirky and meaningful gesture of applause has seemingly turned into a banger fest to scare frail people, ill people, vulnerable people and animals half to death at a very sensitive time.

Without getting too SkyscraperCityish, his official title is "Mayor of the West Midlands". He covers my area too which is most certainly not Birmingham.

After I typed that, I wondered if you might gently object.

No, you can blame the Lib-Dems and this tw*nt for that...

Let's all remember not to get too political. It can only end in SSC-itis, the worst ailment on the Internet.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
Is anyone else's house an absolute mess due to all this upheaval and worry? My living room looks like the den of a hoarder, the hallway is virtually a tip, and seeing the kitchen in bright daylight has been a demoralizing experience. I'm also not managing to keep on top of laundry.
I could've retreated into my formerly lovely bathroom, which is entirely white, windowless, and with spotlit glass shelves containing lots of delicious products - themselves further enhanced by mirrors. However, that too looks like a branch of Space NK that's been robbed.

Last night I knocked an ashtray over the bed, and I couldn't be bothered to change the sheets. It was all I could do to sweep the fag ends themselves onto the other side.

My house is always a mess.
I've been using my lockdown as motivation to actually tidy it up for once.

Yes, mine is usually quite messy and now is no exception. But I don't seem to be able to use all this spare time to tidy it. I just feel like watching Survivors.

I'm glad to hear it's not just me. I have good intentions in the housework field too. Hoping to find a burst of energy that results in a comprehensive carpet cleaning.
Someone in my street appears to have died. As I turned the corner back from my walk/cigarette buying trip, two men in PPE* were heading to a 'Private Ambulance' with a bagged body on a stretcher. Presumably they'd waited for a discreet moment, which I ruined by appearing.
*Got all the lingo down now.

On a nicer note, my mother had secretly been round with her keys in the dead of night/early morning because a selection of Easter bunny shaped treats from Lindt were waiting on the doorstep. Evidently the same at my brothers front door.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
My house is pretty cluttered generally due to the size. I know what you mean, I had a bit of a bad spell last year where things got a bit out of hand so I'm trying hard not to make the same mistake this year, pandemic be damned; garden is looking great but I've been left with some manky carpet now which is the worst thing, luckily Lidl were selling bargain priced carpet cleaners
Another irritation atm is having lots of stacks of documents I can't throw out/burn just yet but I also can't be arsed neatly sorting them... so they're just sitting there. Evil things.
They've also closed the tip and shortened the delivery dates, which whilst understandable, has left me with probably 50 bags of various crap just sitting in piles by the side of my house

Yes, our tip is closed too and the green bin collection (for garden waste) is cancelled, so the patio is covered with stuff waiting for the tip and conifer branches piled up against the house, along with other various bits and pieces. Thank goodness the black bin for general waste is still getting collected each week! And luckily there were a couple of compost bins stacked in the shed so I've taken them out and put any grass cuttings, weeds and clippings in those, although they're already starting to overflow now things are growing and need chopping. But I imagine the green bin collections will return before too long, and maybe the tip at some point soon hopefully. Priorities and all that.
But in all seriousness, people will start dumping stuff en masse, if they haven't already, creating yet another major problem.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
We have been notified that recycling collection is to resume on a monthly basis.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
Where I live is completely surrounded by woodland. People just dump their garden waste in the woods. I'm never sure if that's legal or not, so I don't do it.

All my garden waste gets shredded and used as mulch.
