I used to quite like Daft Punk, until I realised it was probably them (and Cher) who introduced autotune into the mainstream.

https://coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/article/what-is-a-non-fungible-token-nftA NFT (non-fungible token) is a special cryptographically-generated token that uses blockchain technology to link with a unique digital asset that cannot be replicated.

1986 ‘various artists’ compilation Now That’s What I Call Music 8 will be issued as a two-CD set for the first time later this month.
There’s no confirmation, yet, as to how faithful the reissue will be to the original 32-track collection (the lack of attention to detail around mixes and random omissions has been well documented) but if ‘they’ are going to have licensing issues, then let’s hope we lose Nick Berry this time (with his Eastenders-promoted) ‘Every Loser Wins’, rather than, say, David Bowie!

Now 8, the last release for the dinosaur generation and their love of 80’s pop. Now 9 brings the fresh new sound of house music for the teenagers. Just like Now 109 is music for current teenagers and their love of reality TV pop stars.

I've bought most of these early NOW re-issues and there have been quite a few omissions and "wrong" versions of tracks. I wouldn't have known about most of these problems from listening to them but have read about it elsewhere. And David Bowie appears to be a bit of a problem!

If it's not a non-fungible token, I'm not buying it.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-57697878Abba Gold reaches record-breaking 1,000 weeks in UK album chart
Released in 1992, the record is the second biggest-seller of all time in the UK with sales of 5.61 million, only behind Queen's Greatest Hits.
Featuring the Swedish band's biggest songs Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Waterloo, it has now spent a total of 19 years and 12 weeks in the top 100.
"Not bad for four old turnips," joked Benny Andersson on hearing the news.
Abba Gold has spent eight weeks at number one over the years, and is currently at number 17.

I wonder who's still buying it? Who are these people who've only just realised they like ABBA, after all this time?

I used to wonder that when Oasis's's's What's the Story had been in the charts after like 3 years or something. I guess with Abba it's largely studenty types buying "vinyls", or streaming or whatever it is people do these days. As for me, I had the Abba Gold VHS for Christmas in 1992 then bought it on CD in 1999 during another Abba resurgence when the Mamma Mia stage show first famously appeared in London.

I bought it in the year 2000 because I wanted a version of Take A Chance that didn't have Alan Freeman talking all over the outro.

Did your copy have the little fake signatures on the front of the case? That's the one I've got, a re-issue of sorts in 1999.
