I do not expect it to take a sudden upturn in quality now.

Re: Yazoo - Upstairs at Eric's (1982)
It is over.
I didn't find it offensively bad but it suffered from the fact that Moyet wasn't much of a songwriter and Clarke basically gave every song the same arrangement. Overall, it felt a bit lifeless.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.

★★ And that's pushing it.
Never heard it before, probably never listen to it again.

To be honest, all these Synth Duo types, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, :blabblah: none of them are as good as Soft Cell. Who did earlier.
Bronski Beat were alright,

I have now given it two stars. In fairness, I feel it's probably a two and a half stars album.

Listened to this again. My American CD version (EDIT: where on the front cover they're called "Yaz") replaces "Tuesday" with an extended version of the single "Situation", which isn't otherwise on the album, and I do really like that song.
It's alright as an album, but it just doesn't feel groundbreaking like something from Depeche Mode or the Human League.
3/5

The Call of the Wendigo wrote:Alison Moyet laughing.
Fun fact: That laugh from Alison Moyet is re-used as a sample on the Macarena!
Heard at about 6 seconds.
Her laugh is also re-used on Yazoo's own Situation.
