No, I was reading the Wiki track list wrongly.
I think the YouTube track listing put in a live version for some reason, Don't think it was a live version on the album.
Or the last one.I could check I suppose.
It says that...
"Bye Bye Love" (Live recording from Ames, Iowa) is live.
No other tracks.

Re: Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970)
I got confused because I saw the word, "Live," in the Wikipedia playlist and thought that meant the last three tracks were all live, as they are on the playlist on YouTube.Nightjar wrote:Non-vetted playlist.

Bye Bye Love is live, it's the only one that is.

Anyway, the last track seemed a very minor song, so I don't suppose it matters.

Anyway, after another album tracklisting fiasco it is over.

Oh, actually, it seems that that last song was also live.

It's much better than that one we listened to.

Re: Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970)
It is over.
That was a very odd album. 50% of it was majestic, polished genius of a standard few acts could even hope to emulate, while the other half just seemed to be any old stuff they had lying around at the time.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.![Excited](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/4075307247.gif)

Anyway, that was ghastly.
It served to confirm every prejudice I've ever held against them.
On the other hand, I quite like Paul Simon's solo albums (up until Graceland that is).
I'd be quite happy to do There Goes Rhymin' Simon for example.

Right.
I have put on the LP.
Why don't you write me is Studio. (and sounds very 70s solo Simon.
)
Bye Bye Love is live.
Song for the Asking is Studio.

Is a 12" big enough?

Re: Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970)
I don't know how to mark it really. The best tracks deserve a 5. The weaker tracks deserve no more than a 3. Sticking a live track on deserves a 2.
Let's see. 5+3/2=4.
Therefore, I shall give it a 4.

I don't know how to vote for this. It is a good album, but half of it's been played to death and I have no interest in ever hearing it ever again.

Well I hope nobody is going to be snotty and nasty and ever so too cool for school about it. I find the lyrics and musical arrangement of 'sail on silver girl, sail on by, your time has come...' to be totally floods of tears provoking, of a quality few - if any - could ever match. Worthy of nothing less than a devastated seat in a crematorium.

Frank Lloyd Wright only ever now reminds me of Langur. Who in one of his most ponce like lectures on How Things Work told me I lacked a democratic spirit for not esteeming all his works, especially in Chicago. Which I fundamentally dislike as a city but which he sees as a thrusting monument to pulling yourself up on your bootstraps/being deservedly crushed under the boot of someone better - an architectural hymn to the ideal society, with FLW as one of its finest voices.

Please don't remind us about people like that.

FLW isn't that bad. I just wouldn't go all out with adoration.

Generally speaking, yes, but that's really the upper end of enough.
