This is a music hall number.
My Grandpa knew it.
My Great Grandpa performed it.

Re: Cream - Disraeli Gears (1967)
It is over.
It was no Sgt Pepper.
That was an album that was painless to listen to, as they could all play their instruments and two of them could sing passably. However, the songs were uninspired and they seemed to lose interest in most of them halfway through. Finally, they seemed to lose interest in the album itself, by the later stages.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.

I think was strikes me is the terrible production, even in 1967 that was substandard.
And how much Dance the Night Away sounded like The Pink Floyd. Bunch of bandwagon jumpers.
But the tracks were kept short, no 10 minute 12 bar rockers which may have been exciting and new then, are now unlistenable.

That aside...
That was as close to as unenjoyable a listen as last night's B-52s personal nightmare, made only marginally better by the fact that I wasn't completely on my own in disliking it this time.
In fact bolstered considerably by the fact that everyone present disliked it.
So, in summary, I've never liked Cream, despite owning at some point at least one of their albums.
It's just been that it's been so long since I listened to anything by them (let alone a whole record) that I kind of forgot.
They are a boring band and an unutterably overrated band who's reputation was and is based worthlessly (in a broader historical sense) on the various member's Blues-Rock 'pedigree' and perceived pioneership of said genre and milieu in the field of popular music.
Ultimately - and most damning of all - they are a band of posturing, dull men.
No wonder they all p*oed themselves and their w*nkies went when Jimi Hendrix turned up on the scene.

Maybe we should do the Blind Faith album for the 1969 gap?
