I just heard the low drone of a high-up aeroplane flying over for a good minute or so, but it isn't showing on the radar map thingy.

Other than this particular omission, I now use an even better map for this, which also includes helicopters.

I can see two planes flying in a parallel line, over my house.

They are heading in a Manchesterly direction.

One is leaving a vapour trail.

The other is not.

I've just checked that tracking site thing. As well as those two, it's showing a plane that it's marked, as "Blocked."

One of the two identified ones is flying from Doha to Manchester.

Most of the planes flying over this region seem to be doing so to get from Dublin to mainland Europe.

There's a plane flying over that's going from Palma De Mallorca to Doncaster.

Probably going to Doncaster for their holidays.

I can't see it, out of my window, yet.

It is now flying directly away from the airport.

Isn't that when they circle, or "stack" to delay landing as either there's too many planes on the runway or there's a storm at the airport or something? We had to do that for ages on my first ever flight to New York in 2003 and it had gone dark by the time we got there.

This flew over my house on Friday, it's a Dragon Rapide.

How strange. I wonder what it was up to?

This hotel is under the take-off path for Glasgow Airport, and there have been many opportunities to see planes close up and personal.

It's probably a nuclear bomb. They'll be in a holding stack now while they argue about exactly which part of Sheffield to detonate it over.
