When You're Sixteen

Sounds like that sort of thing John Lennon would suck all the life out of.

16 is the official age of a girl in rock & roll.

Or Ringo would've done in epic style.

Strings!
On such a slight track.
For heaven's sake.

Basically they couldn't/weren't allowed to end the album on a slow, melancholy track.
So, a rock 'n roll plodder rounds off affairs.

It is over.
That was fabby; beautifully written, performed and produced with a surprising debt to the likes of Marc Bolan and Dave Bovvie, as well as the expected 1950s influences. Basically, a record made by people who knew what they were doing.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.![Excited](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/4075307247.gif)

Goalposts moved.
Expectations confounded.
Expectations confounded despite the fact that it was everything I expected in a sense.
Superior product on many levels.
Very nice production, relatively sophisticated compositions that never lost touch with the R&R and doo-wap music it was unashamedly apeing.
In summary, immensly entertaining despite all of my prejudices.
