That last guttural collision of chords and keys is so perfect a summary of all the thr*sting ambition the album aspires to.
An incredibly brilliant and powerful album - conceptually, musically and in respects to the individual band members - musicianship and craft.
Perhaps, not a record to be listened to front-to-back all that often of course due to it's unutterably powerful and, perhaps, overbearing theme, but a masterpiece nonetheless.
The Who were never so good, before or after.
One of the best 20-or-so albums ever dun.
An incredibly brilliant and powerful album - conceptually, musically and in respects to the individual band members - musicianship and craft.

Like everything Who-related, it started off OK but progressed its way into being a protracted bore.
They only had one song, didn't they? The one with all the drumming and the bombastic chords.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.
I'm not sure that's fair, I don't think anyone's done the inherent fragility of the Alpha Male better than some of The Who's songs.
