Lower back goes into agonising spasm...

I'm going to have to hobble off to the Doctors and get referred to the psychopath cyclepath osteopath now.

I did me back in nearly 4 weeks ago whilst moving a large rock in the garden (near Buddha in the Garden, funnily enough), and although I was initially able to carry on gardening, every time I've bent down since or got in and out of the car I've gone "ooh" in an older person type way, yet it hasn't been causing any constant pain thankfully, just occasional discomfort.

It had got quite a bit better by last week but it started again at the weekend when I was gardening.

I pulled something in my lower back in Cardiokick Bodycombat class the other week.

But it got better.

I think my hamstrings are too tight for the high kicks these days.

You can get a Deep Heat roll-on now, they're great, I use it on my neck when it's stiff.

It makes the affected part feel warm and tingly. It feels like it's doing you good even if it isn't.

I don't like Deep Heat or any other kind of gels and topical sprays. Valium is the better option.

My back properly went a couple of years ago, and like NJ I took it as a frightening preview of old age. I now have a deep, and I expect lifelong, appreciation of the dropped kerb.

I couldn't even sit down - my only options were lying down and half standing, and each position took an hour or so of commitment to achieve.

Sometimes it would simply give way into such severe spasm that I'd end up screaming on the floor. I spent weeks on the verge of tears at the prospect of having to wear ugly shoes.

My lower back hurtz, it's either cuz I've slept on it funny, one of those improvised weights things I was doing down the gym or it happened when I was on top of the wobbly ladders with the budgie cage trying to get the escapee back in.
